Naim Mu-So Qb 2nd Generation

On August 9, 2019, in Salisbury, England, Naim Audio, a British hi-fi specialist with 46 years of experience in the audio industry, introduced the latest member of its award-winning family of wireless music systems, the Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation. Comprehensive hardware and software updates ensure a significant improvement in performance compared to the original Mu-so Qb (released in 2016), while stylistic refinements align the new device with the design language of the Mu-so 2nd Generation.
Similar to the acclaimed Mu-so 2nd Generation introduced in May, the new Mu-so Qb features Naim's unique music streaming platform, developed by 25 engineers over 3 years. It delivers optimal performance whether you're playing your own digital music collection or streaming from internet radio or music streaming services like TIDAL and Spotify. This renowned innovation is exclusive to Naim music streaming products, spanning the entire Uniti range to the flagship ND 555. Mu-so Qb has gained a new illuminated volume dial, along with a full control panel and a proximity sensor that lights up in greeting as you approach it. Easy access to key playback controls, favorite playlists, radio stations, Spotify resume function, multiroom functionality, and more is available through this touch-sensitive interface.
The 2nd Generation Mu-so Qb can also be controlled using the updated Naim app and, by popular demand, a new remote control. Encased in the same polished aluminum housing in grey and the same speaker grille construction as the Mu-so, it can also be personalized with optional interchangeable grilles in Olive, Terracotta, or Peacock colors.
In its compact dimensions, the 2nd Generation Mu-so Qb packs 300W of musical power delivered to entirely new speakers, optimized in collaboration with the brand Focal. The 2nd Generation Mu-so Qb also features an upgraded DSP processor, now with over 10 times more processing power for even greater musical precision. Stream high-resolution music (Qb can handle files up to 32bit/384kHz) via UPnPTM or browse millions of songs through AirPlay 2 (including Apple Music), Spotify® Connect, TIDAL, Chromecast, and internet radio. Enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity ensures smoother streaming, while Ethernet remains an option if you prefer wired connections. You can also connect devices wirelessly via Bluetooth®. In the 2nd Generation Mu-so Qb, the USB input supports music playback from USB drives, while the optical input allows you to easily connect your TV for improved sound quality from your favorite TV shows, movies, and games.
3 Ways to Multiroom
The compact size of the 2nd Generation Mu-so Qb makes it an excellent option for rooms like kitchens and bedrooms, where accommodating a larger Mu-so system might be challenging. A few simple clicks in the Naim app allow you to easily join it to a multiroom setup with its larger siblings or other Naim networked products, including the 1st Generation Mu-so and Mu-so Qb. For convenience, you can also use multiroom with other AirPlay 2-compatible wireless speakers via the Apple Home app or with other Chromecast devices through the Google Home app.
The updated Naim app, available on iOS and Android devices, allows browsing by artists, genre, album, and more, with graphics and extended music information. You can also control volume, backlight settings, rooms, and create playlists. The 2nd Generation Mu-so Qb is also ready to integrate with Roon.
