Optoma has introduced a new compact ultra short-throw laser projector optimized for PC and console gaming, boasting an input lag of just 8.6 milliseconds.

The Optoma GT3500HDR is a versatile device designed for both home entertainment and home office use, featuring ultra-low latency that the company claims is "four times lower than competing display technology." This means it has an input lag of 8.6ms for 1080p content at 120Hz, which increases to 17ms for 1080p/60Hz with 4K UHD input.

That's right—the Optoma GT3500HDR offers Full HD resolution but includes two HDMI ports that can handle 4K input. It also features a DuraCore laser light source capable of delivering 3,800 lumens, ensuring high-quality images not only at night but also during the day or when the lights are on.

Optoma claims the GT3500HDR has a 500,000:1 contrast ratio and a native aspect ratio of 16:9. It can project an 80-inch diagonal image from just eight inches away from the wall or screen, and to achieve the maximum image size of 130 inches, it needs to be placed further back.

As suggested by its name, the Optoma GT3500HDR supports HDR content, including HDR10 and HLG. The company highlights that it can fully reproduce the Rec.709 color gamut. For easy setup, it offers vertical/horizontal keystone correction and four-corner adjustment.

One drawback is that the Optoma GT3500HDR is not a smart projector, meaning it lacks built-in WiFi, so users need to connect an external media source to watch content. However, it's simple to connect a streaming device like a Fire TV or Roku stick via its USB port, making it quite portable. Alternatively, users can connect the projector to a PC or console for gaming and videos.

The GT3500HDR also includes a 15-watt speaker system with options to connect external speakers.
