Epson EB-XQ2030B – 30,000 lumens and 4K in a compact chassis
Large-scale projection is usually associated with huge, heavy projectors whose transportation and installation can be a challenge in themselves. The Epson EB-XQ2030B is designed to change that. This professional 4K laser projector delivers up to 30,000 lumens of brightness and has been developed for large venues, immersive installations, live events and projection mapping. Epson describes it as the world’s smallest and lightest 30,000-lumen projector in its class. Measuring 620 × 530 × 205 mm and weighing 34.4 kg, it is remarkably compact for a projector offering this level of performance. Its reduced size is useful not only during transportation but also when integrating the projector into environments where larger units could interfere with sightlines, architecture or the overall design of the venue.
4K, 3LCD and 30,000 lumens
The EB-XQ2030B’s key strength is, of course, its image quality. The projector combines 3LCD technology with Epson’s 4K Crystal Motion technology, delivering a 3840 × 2160 resolution and a contrast ratio of more than 5,000,000:1. Combined with brightness of up to 30,000 lumens, this allows it to produce exceptionally large and detailed images where both colour reproduction and black levels are important. This makes it particularly well suited to applications where projection is not simply a way of displaying presentations, but forms part of the overall visual experience – from architectural mapping and tourist attractions to concert productions and immersive art installations. The projector also supports HDR10 and HLG, as well as displaying up to 1.07 billion colours, giving creators extensive possibilities when working with demanding visual content.
Cooling and construction designed for intensive operation
At such high brightness levels, effective thermal management is essential. Epson has therefore equipped the projector with its Advanced Cooling Engine, designed to efficiently manage internal temperatures and maintain stable laser performance. The light source is rated for up to 20,000 hours of operation. The optical engine is also hermetically sealed and filterless, while IP6X-rated dust resistance helps reduce maintenance requirements. This can be particularly valuable in demanding installations or locations where service access is difficult. The EB-XQ2030B is therefore designed not as a projector for occasional use, but as part of professional systems intended for long-term operation, including in challenging environments.
Flexibility for complex installations
Adaptability is another important part of the design. The EB-XQ2030B uses interchangeable lenses, while the new H-Series lens range covers a wide throw-ratio range, from ultra-short throw to long-distance projection. The projector also offers features such as Lens Shift, Edge Blending, geometric correction, automatic image calibration and multi-projector configurations. Connectivity includes 12G-SDI, HDMI, HDBaseT, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and an Intel SDM slot, allowing the system to be expanded with options such as AVoIP modules or media players. This makes the same projector suitable for a wide range of scenarios, from permanent installations to professional event productions. The Epson EB-XQ2030B is expected to be available through authorised resellers from early 2027, primarily targeting professional AV integrators, event production companies and operators of large venues.
